Yes, poor baby. He was adorable, and seemed very happy during his short life.
My first cat was given to me as a kitten by a friend--supposedly vetted by the Human society in NJ. Within hours it was obvious Eve, was sick...within hours she was convulsing and I ran downstairs with her in my arms asking someone in the store in my building to drive us to the animal Medical center. I didn't have any cash for a cab. The upshot was that she had distemper and had to be put down. It was an awful experience. She was so sweet and helpless.

Oh, the poor thing!

My mom had an indoor cat that she adored. They used to watch Animal Planet together, and he'd "talk" to her. Just once, he got out. He got in a fight with another cat, who bit him-and he caught Feline Leukemia or one of those. My mom's never missed a cat so much.

Our 2 were a rescue (Alias) and a stray,(Finder) but thank goodness, the worst thing Finder had was fleas. Alias was actually an "indirect rescue"- my parents rescued Mom Cat and learned she was pregnant. (A Maine Coon, pregnant, and she weighed only 6+1/2 lbs!) Alias was the runt, and we think malnourished, because she's kinda in the head too. ;)

That's terrible. My cats for years got rabies shots and anti leuk shots but since I live on the 3rd floor my vet doesn't think it's necessary. I never open the window wide enough so that they could get out.

That's a tiny Maine Coon!

She was one of about 70 Maine Coons found running wild in this one house. The owner, an older woman, was found dead (probably for a while) and the cats were matted and starving. My parents and sister and brother in law were among the flood of volunteers who helped get the cats clean, groomed, fed and put up for adoption. I think most of them got adopted quickly.

Thanks! Yet another one of your animal posts which I must immediately forward to my wife. She must have watched the leopard video five times yesterday.

Aw...so sweet, and so sad.

What a great facility for orphaned cats! Thanks for posting this!

What's funny to me about that site is that the late Jerry Lee was an absolute ringer for my grey tiger Leiber, and Leiber stayed such a small cat for so long that he got the nickname "the little itty bitty kitty" for years. He's six years old now, and only now looks like a full-grown cat: he tries his best to sound grown-up, too, but he still squeaks like a kitten, especially when he's roughhousing with the other cat.

And before you ask, the reason why he wasn't named "Gummitch" was because I had a cat twenty years ago by that name, and a peach lab rat named "Histvet", too. As it was, his final name was chosen long before he showed his real personality. so it's a complete misnomer: he's an absolute sweetheart and incredibly fun to have around, but I swear that he's the dumbest cat I've ever met in my life. However, he's stuck with it (he answers to it about as well as he answers to "Freakbeast", his other nickname, but the Czarina and I have been suitably conditioned), so I only hope Mr. Leiber isn't offended, whereever he is, that I named such a goofy cat after him.

I went by my local Animal Shelter today to evaluate an Akita for ARMAC (Akita REscue of Mid-Atlantic Coast) prior to their pulling her for a foster home. We took her through the cattery.

There are 2 (different aged) litters of kittens there. I told them they really had to stop meowing or they'd break my heart. Adorable, all of them. Black and white, all of them.

The Akita? Wonderful, reminded me of my Dante at her age.

She's getting pulled on Friday.}:) She's so sweet, she won't be in a foster long. The kittens? Too adorable to be there long. My Shelter only euth's IF neccessary, thankfully. Unfortunately, that means the bigger dogs and older cats tend to go first.

Hee, I love the one of the cat kind of cozying up to the faucet. So cute!
