Thanks! Yet another one of your animal posts which I must immediately forward to my wife. She must have watched the leopard video five times yesterday. *grins*
What's funny to me about that site is that the late Jerry Lee was an absolute ringer for my grey tiger Leiber, and Leiber stayed such a small cat for so long that he got the nickname "the little itty bitty kitty" for years. He's six years old now, and only now looks like a full-grown cat: he tries his best to sound grown-up, too, but he still squeaks like a kitten, especially when he's roughhousing with the other cat.
And before you ask, the reason why he wasn't named "Gummitch" was because I had a cat twenty years ago by that name, and a peach lab rat named "Histvet", too. As it was, his final name was chosen long before he showed his real personality. so it's a complete misnomer: he's an absolute sweetheart and incredibly fun to have around, but I swear that he's the dumbest cat I've ever met in my life. However, he's stuck with it (he answers to it about as well as he answers to "Freakbeast", his other nickname, but the Czarina and I have been suitably conditioned), so I only hope Mr. Leiber isn't offended, whereever he is, that I named such a goofy cat after him.
I went by my local Animal Shelter today to evaluate an Akita for ARMAC (Akita REscue of Mid-Atlantic Coast) prior to their pulling her for a foster home. We took her through the cattery.
There are 2 (different aged) litters of kittens there. I told them they really had to stop meowing or they'd break my heart. Adorable, all of them. Black and white, all of them.
The Akita? Wonderful, reminded me of my Dante at her age.

Poor Jerry Lee.
What a great place, though.
