Every time I think I can't get more furious, I read something like this and find a little more room to be angry. It's astounding what they are getting away with.

Well, I am not very acknowledged in your American system, but we in Ukraine are all very experienced in democractic elections, because it's all we have since 2004 revolution - elections, then counter-elections, and again they weren't fair, and again... and it seems we are up to next round this fall.
So if you have some doubts that elections are going to be clear - you are right. They surely aren't going to be.

sigh. every 4 years, a backlog of dishonesty comes surging into view and buries us.

How's that for a mixed metaphore?

but people ARE paying attention to this...

NJ Democrats who got those letters are going out on registration drives & making sure they're put back on the rolls. People are going around on campuses, making sure kids know what to do to vote (oh, & btw, I went out & voted @ the precinct house when I was in college, as did most of my classmates, thankyouverymuch). This isn't a "forever" thing, it can be fixed & some people ARE working to make it known & fix it.

On the other hand, the republican owned electronic voting machines that have no paper trails- THOSE scare the shit out of me.

Which, of course, will affect women the most, especially those of us who were slow to change all the gov't pieces of paper to match our married name. Fortunately, all of mine now agree. I think.

This is why we decided that I should wait until AFTER the elections to adopt my married name. Too risky otherwise (and isn't it a shame that I have to say that?).
