Jim Freund installed my new Sony radio/CD player today and hooked up my computer to my Denon speakers. He also showed me Pandora Radio, an amazing internet site that allows you to create your own playlists for free (the only ads, are on the sidebars) --so I've been listening to jazz all evening on my computer. I've also set up a "station" for Blues, 60s and 70s music, and modern folk music. Whoopie! This is amazing. You can add a specific song or singer/group and the computer plays other things like the ones you choose. If you don't like a specific cut, you can can it and the computer system adjusts. I may never listen to anything else on radio again! Thank you Jim!
Pandora Radio

So, I now have a Denon receiver/tape player and possibly two Sony speakers (not very large) to get rid of --if Jim wants the speakers I told him he can have them....
best offer --cash and carry!

I'll take the speakers.

I'm glad you like Pandora -- I'm amazed it hasn't taken the online world by storm -- especially on portable phones and MP3 players. But I'm happy to have it while working.

And yes, Barbara and I will take the speakers off your hands... :)

Re: I'll take the speakers.

I'm listening to BGO right now but will probably go back to Pandora soon...

Super...the sooner they're out of my apt the better...let's make a date.

I have...

a real love/hate relationship w/ Pandora. They'll play the most amazing selection of songs, some good new stuff & groups, & then suddenly they're playing awful crap 5 songs in a row, which is more than I can delete. Then again, I don't have internet @ home, so I can't listen for very long @ any time anyway. I just wish they had an option for "no live recordings" & "no covers." Also "good lyrics" & "vocals in tune" would help.

What is your station name? I have two, one mixed rock (heavy on the "classic") & one more folk & oldies, named (quel surprise) "Madblonde Rock" & "Madblonde Road," respectively.

Re: I have...

Right, so I just stick my thumb down :-)

I have several: jazz, blues, folk, 60s-70 favorites (that's the toughest as I have very specific tastes).

unfortunately...

it only allows you a certain number of "thumbs down" or skips per time period. I like to be exposed to new stuff, but if it's awful I'd really like to be able to choose something better, regardless of how many I have to skip. Then again, @ least they don't PLAY commercials.

only...

within limited parameters. As I said, there's no option for "vocals in tune" or "no mediocre covers." It will let you eliminate an artist, & picks up on a few things like "close harmonies" "piano accompaniment" & "accoustic guitar," but it's really very broad.
