Marly Youmans and Dan Braum were excellent and the crowd was a good one.

And tonight I saw Curtains, a very clever little musical mystery with a very good cast including David Hyde Pierce, Karen Ziemba, and Debra Monk. Bad play opens in Boston, and the very bad lead actress is murdered. Detective who is a closet theater guy investigates. More murders. We see lots of bad show numbers (a terrible imitation of Oklahoma)--some lovely musical numbers--by the famous Kander & Ebb. It was quite enjoyable on this cold rainy night.

I'm envious -- I would go see David Hyde Pierce in anything, no matter what it was. I didn't know Debra Monk was also a stage actress, but I can definitely see it now that I think of it.

Oh, and the other person in it I almost forgot was the guy who was in the South Pacific concert with Reba McIntyre and Brian Stokes Mitchell. Jason Danieley who played Lt Cable. He's adorable and has a wonderful tenor.

She's done a lot of movies, but has lots of important one-or-two episode roles on good TV shows.

She's one of those actresses who's been around in a lot of well-known movies and television shows, but people don't usually know her name because she's rarely a lead. Her biggest roles were probably Katie Sipowicz in NYPD Blue and now Louise O'Malley in Grey's Anatomy (looks to be a recurring guest role), but I hadn't seen her in those. I had just noticed her in small roles in some movies: Center Stage, The Devil's Advocate (with Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves), and a silly little romantic comedy called "For Love of Money" with Michael J. Fox.

In looking her up on IMDB, I see she was also Mrs. Paroo in the Matthew Broderick remake of The Music Man.

I don't watch tv so that's why I'm not familiar with her.

If you're a member of TDF you can get discount tix there--or else I'll bet TKTS has them half price.

no-

I know who David Hyde Pierce is. This was a guy in a MUCH smaller role in both shows. Starting to bald, I believe. I'll see if I can find out more info.

Re: It was probably....

I don't think Hibbert was in Fraser. Pierce was.
In any case, Hibbert wasn't in it last night.--(he usually plays the director)

Re: It was probably....

oops...just checked. I hadn't known they were BOTH on Frasier. So I guess if you think it was Hibbert it was. But I didn't see him last night.

He played Gil, the restaurant critic. I saw him off-Broadway in the first run of Rudnick's Jeffrey. A talented guy.

Whenever I see these posts, I think, "Dang, Ellen is in the Russian secret police?" Heh. My brain is silly.

Thanks, Ellen. The reading was a fantastic experience !

Great photos as usual. I think in one of the b/w's Nick K was kidnapped and replaced with a glowing beam of light, :)
