It's one of my favorite holidays because I (perhaps in the minority among friends with more sophisticated palates) LOVE turkey and all the trimmings. Although my favorite stuffing using chestnuts, sausage and stuff like that rather than a lot of bread-like substances. I'm going over to my friend Claire's (great cook) for the big meal. She's teaching her niece to roast a turkey. Someone else is bringing dessert and I'm bringing wine and cheese.

Things I'm thankful for:

the whole family

Dinah
and

Bella

friends who I love
work that I love
Good health which I cherish
The opportunities to travel all over the world
An apartment rental that is cozy and homey and relatively reasonably priced in an expensive city
New York which I love

On the whole a very good life.

I love turkey, too, especially the cranberry sauce which must always be made from scratch. Yum! I often roast the potatoes all afternoon in the oven while the turkey cooks. I wrap them in aluminum foil packets with carrots and onions and spices and pull them out as needed. Gravy is a very important part of the equation as well.

Okay, I've now made myself hungry and it's not even Thanksgiving here! Enjoy the day. :)

Just got back and no potatoes but plenty of other great food. Delicious turkey and gravy and stuffing plus home made cranberry sauce, collards, salad, lots of wine, and a home made pumpkin-pecan pie that wasn't too sweet.
