For anyone interested, I'm finishing up two all-reprint anthologies right now: Darkness: Two Decades of Modern Horror for Tachyon and Best Horror of the Year#1 for Night Shade. When I can post TOC I will--I'm guessing there will be much discussion of my choices for Darkness: Two Decades of Modern Horror and about who/what I've left out. (The book came in at 152,000 words. I would love to have had 250,000 words.)

Then Nick Mamatas and I will finish Haunted Legends for which everything (but one story we're expecting --and can fit--) are in.

And on to two other reprint projects and starting work on at least one new original anthology about which I cannot speak.

If Nick Mamatas were to read slush for me, I'd be open to slush --he did a fantastic job during the brief open reading period we held for Haunted Legends.

Re: alas...

Hrm... If I were a computer programmer, I'd come up with a program that could search for certain parameters to weed out the really bad stuff and save editors time. It could have an adverb count, for example, and determine how many times impossible things happen. For example, if someone hisses, "No, you go now!" an alert would pop up. ;P

Too many books to read! Not enough time!

Sleep is for the weekend? No. I work them, too.

I'm looking forward to seeing these and hearing about the new anthology.

"... at least one new original anthology ..."

Now THAT is great news! :)

Thanks for the linke.
Skimming the comments it's hilarious to see all the misinformation about the magazine:-). If I had time, I'd join the group and correct them on the errors.

Synchronistically, one of the things I'm in the middle of is responding to Mike Ashley's questions about my time as Fiction editor at OMNI (for a histroy of science fiction and other genre magazines he's working on).
