Nice pics. You were out here during those strongs winds that hit the west a week or so ago, blew away some of the smog! It was very windy here this weekend, and COLD! Unseasonably cold -- not that I'm complaining, mind you.

Have you been to Utah yet? Zion National Park? Bryce Canyon? Stupendously beautiful country.

Thanks.
When I got into LA I could see the smog and immediately that night started coughing nights. I didn't stop till I got home. So there's certainly something out there--smog or something I'm allergic to.

It was a little chilly nights in Stallion Springs.

No and I'd love to go. Someday.

I can't handle smog at all. Makes me sick.

I'd say by your pics that the smog wasn't as bad as it could have been. I think you lucked out. Shame what LA smog has done to the west.

That was stark country you visited. I lived 18 miles northeast of Palm Springs before moving to this blasted town, and miss it very much. It's a pretty desert there, lots of plant and animal life.

The only good thing about Vegas, in my opinion, is its close proximity to pretty places, which makes living here almost bearable. Almost. But not quite.

I'm not a smoker, gambler, or party girl, so being here is not all that appealing to me.

I've been to Red Rock and Lake Isabella and those parts with Mikey and Richard before--and Death Valley, listening over and over to Tangerine Dream until we couldn't bear it any more, because that was the only tape I remembered to bring. The high desert has its beauty.

Never been to Vegas. I didn't realize that's where you live.

Yes, Vegas is where I live, for now. Came here eleven years ago, for my husband's work. He was up at Area 51 for several years, and now we're stuck here for the duration until he retires in about 6 years. Ugh. But we get out often, to explore the nicer areas, and go up to Utah when time permits. We have in-laws who live in St. George. Utah is a beautiful state, but culturally odd, at least it's odd in my opinion. But I'm what some might call a feminist, although I don't see myself as such. ;)

I grew up in Palm Springs.

Oh, Yes, Tangerine Dream. I like them. Appropriate music for a drive through Death Valley. What time of the year did you visit? We had our 100 year flood about five years ago, and Death Valley filled up with water, had a lake there for approx. one month. Then the flowers arrived! Lovely!

That's funny about bringing only one tape to listen to. Done that before!

Well, it was before DVDs. And it wasn't summer because that would have been way too hot. But the temperature did get up several degrees higher than 100F--I remember that. We saw an eagle fly off with a snake in its mouth--that was one of the highlights.

An eagle with a snake in its beak, that's exciting! Seeing this would have been a high point for me too.

Before DVDs. That was a while ago.

Palm Springs gets as hot as Death Valley during summertime. The heat softens asphalt, and makes high heels sink in by half an inch.
