So... I went to Petco with a friend and her teenage daughter and met my friend Ellie there. Not many kittens. The big orange tabby who Ellie admired was still there and she had just about persuaded me to take a real look at him when the volunteer said when I pointed to the cage: "he's a single"--well, of course, I said--there's only one cat in that cage. The guy explained that the gorgeous boy isn't good with other animals. Ohhhhh.

Saw a couple of black & white several month old kittens but neither charmed me. Saw a tiny cute tabby but immediately dismissed it when I was told she was female. But since there were so few kittens this time (I was assured that there would be more over the next few weeks as it's "kitten season"), with Ellie's persuasion, I asked to see and pick up the little girl. Verrrry cute and very sweet and seemingly good-natured. Picked up a longer haired b&w in the cage with her (possibly her brother) but he was a little too graspy without being friendly. So what happened? I committed to the adorable tabby girl who is probably going to end up looking just like Bella --I'm such a sucker.

Filled out papers, gave references and will be phoned in the next day to pick her up. Some year I'll acquire a male kitten.

So yesterday I woke up feeling as if a helmet was tight against my head and I couldn't hear very well --out of either ear. Since I had to await fedex till 3pm I couldn't even think about going to the doc. I assumed it was a sinus infection brought on my flying with a cold--tried to not freak out as I asked friends/family about it--my sister said she experienced the same thing returning from Europe last week. My mom suggested I put a warm compress across the bridge of my nose and under my eyes. Oh yeah, and the whites of my eyes were getting red and had junk leaking from them. Oh goody! I figured if none of this got better by Monday it was to the doc I go. I started taking decongestants.

So....I woke up this morning and the hearing is back to normal--yay! And the eyes not as bad as they were--yay! I'll still have to wear my eyeglasses rather than contacts, something I haven't done since my ER visit to St Vincents several years ago, as a result of bad lens stuff I used when stuck in Yonkers during the blackout. I've been tossing in eyedrops every once in awhile. I hope I don't scare the horses (or in reality, my brunch companions and later, the kittens I plan to check out in the Union Square Petco).

Glad to see LJ/facebook connection seems to be back to normal.
