I am pleased as punch that the Greenman review has anointed me their Summer Queen. I was even forced to write something:
Summer Queen and Other matters

Please celebrate the new season with me.

All hail the Summer Queen!

P.S. I never knew MAD Magazine's mascot had a name... =)

So, do we call you Queen Ellen now, or simply "Your Majesty"?

Heh.

Well, can you imagine Wm Gibson with one? Even in his wildest days? (I can't and I was there).

Depending on where it was... yeah, I can. (Luckily, I don't keep many images of WG in my head, so I can just make this one *perfect*... a sort of Dorian Gray memorabilia piece.)

"Summer Queen" is a lovely honor. Congrats!

I remember the songs of '65 and '66, Alfred E. Newman, teenage-crushes. But mostly Alfred E. Newman. Mad magazine was "it"!

thank you (I'm so embarrassed. I just noticed I misspelled "anointed" --fixed it!

There are other memories that are best buried in my brain :-).

Nicely done! But I'm still pissed-off that I wasn't named summer-queen!

Love the speech! Great memories. You made me want to time-travel back to your Rockaway.

Thank you, your majesty, for that lovely set of memories. Now "Red Rubber Ball" one again is bouncing through my mind, and I am happy.

I can see you now...

twined about with ivy & honeysuckle (was going to say roses, but they have too many thorns for comfortable wearing), cool, flowing white linen dress & elegantly simple sandals. Laughing. W/ a large silver cup of wine. *sigh* I suppose summer has a FEW redeeming qualities.

Very cool, and I liked your speech/writing.

Could it be possible that I misremembered or dreamed it?

I sometimes wonder this about things in my past that my parents don't seem to remember.

Also, cherry lime rickeys! The only place I've ever had them was on Star Island.

Thank you. The other thing is that my mother has told me stories that I don't remember at all, so a lot of my early childhood is made up of HER memories.
