I'm returning to the wilds of New Kingston, NY for the weekend to spend the weekend in the country. But before I go, I urge all of you who read my blog to go to
petition for a cafe next door to Borderlands Books
and add your names:
Cheryl Morgan writes on her blog:
"As some of you may know, my good friends at Borderlands Books in San Francisco are working on opening a cafe next to their store. In order to do so they need to get planning permission, which is not always a straightforward proposition, city bureaucracies being what they are. So the application needs support. There’s a petition in the store that you can sign, but if you can’t get into San Francisco (and I know that Borderlands has fans all around the world) then you can help out by adding a comment below. And by directing your friends here. So…
We, the undersigned, enjoy visiting Borderlands Books when we are in San Francisco, and would be delighted if they had a cafe adjacent to the store. A cafe would enable the store to enhance its already excellent events program, and cement its reputation as one of the world’s premier independent specialist bookstores."
Go on, everyone. I want to see at least 50 more names by the time I get home Sunday night!!!

Thank you
Thanks so much for posting this. The support that I've gotten from the community has been heart warming and much more than I expected. What a lovely group of people I belong to.
Warmest Regards,

Thank you, thank you, thank you
Just a quick follow up. Had the hearing on Thursday and . . . we got the permit!
I'm so grateful for all your help and support. As several people commented, the Planning Commission didn't know what hit them. I was in and out of the hearing in fifteen minutes. Now I have to wait about a month and a half to get permits from the building department and then I can start the construction.
Since I don't want to hex myself by setting a date, I'm not going to but keep an eye on our website http://www.borderlands-books.com for news as things progress.
Thanks again,
