thanks -- as I said when I passed along the Keith Olbermann video earlier -- things like this give me at least a little hope that all we're going through is a McCarthy-like era and not the complete collapse of American democracy.

That one was really awesome -- it's almost like the Big Media guys like Matthews suddenly realized how full of crap those blowhards are? When the Kevin James guy just kept saying "He was an appeaser, he was an appeaser!" instead of answering the historical question was my favorite part.

Get the bums out!

To be fair, there are plenty of conservatives who are knowledgable about history. (although it's much more fun to kick this Kevin James idiot around! ;-) )

Something my father (who got married in 1938) told me about Munich. The reality was the British Military were not in very good shape to undertake a war, and the extra year plus between Munich and the war gave them much needed time to build and expand. I'm not saying that Chamberlain had that in mind at the time, but it's a point worth remembering.

That's a good point. Chamberlain takes the fall for what was, in the context of 1938, a done deal: Germany was going to take the Sudetenland no matter what anyone said, and Britain was in no shape to go to war even if the fight could have been sold to the British people.

Chamberlain's big mistake was uttering the bit about 'peace in our time'.

As the kids say: PWNED!

That was rather more evisceration than discussion.
