I will be on Jim Freund's very long running radio show Hour of the Wolf this Saturday morning 5-7 (that's the correct time)..this means I get up at 3:45 am and Jim picks me up at 4:15--whoopie! and we go downtown to the studio and go on air at 5am.

Live on WBAI (99.5 FM) in New York City--If you're not up that early, you can probably hear the show once it's archived here:

archives

I'll be talking about Inferno and The Del Rey Book of Science Fiction and Fantasy and there will be three copies of Inferno given away to callers during the two hours.

So if you're up late or early, or just can't sleep--even in you're not near enough to catch the radio waves directly, there's a live feed on the WBAI site:

If it streams, I will try to listen - and call in!

I'll catch it on the archives. I'm three hours behind you, semi-comatose at two a.m.

All of us with the experience of getting up (or staying up) and then getting picked up by Jim in The Car, entering WBAI at the ghostly hours, and then having the adrenaline run with a mic in front of us -- this must be a club of, what? maybe a thousand by now?

Maybe we should have t-shirts.

Maybe there is a t-shirt already!

Love, C.

Are you going to stay up and try the live feed or listen to the archives :-)

Are you kidding me? I haven't seen the far side of 2 AM since I left New Orleans! :)

I'm devastated.... you could certainly get up early :-) It doesn't begin till 5am...

I'm not awake that early even when I'm on the show.

Hope it goes well!

I don't have internet on weekends but look forward to listening once it's archived.

WBAI

I'm listening right now to you and Jim Freund via WBAI archive. Fun!

Interesting listening...you just sneezed, again, thrice.

What were the music selections you had Jim play? Kitschy.

Ooh, Lovecraft antho. Most excellent!

Re: WBAI

I've come down with a horrendous cold. I was hoping it was allergies, but no such luck. You should have heard me this evening at dinner!
That's weird....I didn't feel they were kitsch. It's a Hot Women cd of female singers from warm climes. (of course, now I can't find it). I happened to have it in my bag because I forgot to give the CD to a friend. Jim couldn't find his regular CDs...

Lovecraftian stories with no mention of Lovecraft or the usual trappings.

Re: WBAI

I'm most likely using "kitsch" loosely. Exotic and retro might be better descriptions. One of the songs reminded me of a Carmen Miranda tune, and I immediately envisioned her wearing her hat of fruit.

Sorry to hear you have a cold. This has been a vicious year for sickness for most.

Re: WBAI

Is the CD titled "Hot Women Doing Cool Stuff"? This is the actual title? I thought perhaps it was a notation on the CD, not the real title, when I heard it last night.

I wish I lived near the east coast. All the fun stuff happens out there.

But the Stoker Awards will be held in LA next year, I have heard...very doable for us Wild West folks.

I managed to avoid the flu but now have had two colds in two months.

Re: WBAI

Found it. It's Hot Women: Women Singers From the Torrid Regions of the World, taken from old 78 rpm records. Compiled by R. Crumb --and with his art on the CD cover.
I wouldn't call it kitsch, if for no other reason than it's the genuine article--all recorded in the 1930s by women from Cajun Louisiana, Texas, Chile, Cuban Martinique, Brazil, Athens, etc.
