Just out of curiosity, are you worried that your dodo is lonely? If so, I think we've figured out what to get you for your birthday (http://www.amazon.com/DODO-BIRD-by-Safari-Ltd/dp/B000NDRTVC).
Hmm. What is it MADE of? I've actually coveted the famour stuffed dodo that has been hanging around conventions forever. Apparently the company that makes those is either defunct or doesn't sell them any more :-)
In this case, it's merely plastic. Safari puts out a very extensive line of plastic figures of extinct animals (the dinosaurs are okay, but their prehistoric mammals (http://safariltd.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=B0001-RE0019) are wonderful), and the dodo is the latest entry on the company's list. I'm a bit more partial to the Safari Dunkleosteus (http://safariltd.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SL&Product_Code=283329), but the dodo is a very close second.
We'll find out if Salon Fantastique wins at the WFC in early November. But what I always say (and mean) is that once you're nominated for something, you're a winner until you lose. YBFH #19 is up for the British Fantasy Award this weekend, but there's no chance it'll win.
I will be rooting for you come November (I was confusing the WFC w/ the Fiction con in Saratoga)! & NEVER say never or "no chance." As you say, ALWAYS a winner. ;-)
