"My former neighbor Sue called earlier to tell me that the St. Bernard Animal Shelter is in another desperate situation. They are stuffed to the rafters with 56 dogs and 50 cats facing euthanasia. They've suspended ALL adoption fees -- not sure if that's just for this weekend or until the backlog is gone -- while still providing spay/neuter and vaccinations. Repeat: the St. Bernard Animal Shelter is currently offering animals for adoption for no cost whatsoever. Their number is 504-228-1093. If you're in the area and can adopt a pet, please consider them."
If you live in the area (St Bernard's {Parish is southeast of New Orleans) and are thinking of adopting a dog or cat, do it now--you'll be saving an animal's life.
