... and I stayed up till about 2:30 to see it in (that's around the time I was born).
Ellie called me at 10:30 to sing me the birthday song (not Happy birthday but the other, better one).

I have to get ready for my annual birthday lunch with one friend and then later am going to Brooklyn for a birthday dinner with other friends. And if the weather isn't too awful, we'll go to the beach to see in the new year.

I'm tired already ! Just kidding, but I did just get home from a lovely lunch at a very old deli that's been around since 1929 that Jack Womack took me to. I'd never even know it existed--right across from Tor...I'll be back.

Then shopping at the green market and Whole Foods (the latter a big mistake as it was packed, but I needed rye bread) and then had to stop at the supermarket for necessities. I was carrying so much stuff I couldn't stop at the po.
Oh and I got a mislaid gift from Xmas eve....
Thank you Katya--(if you're reading this)--I'll email you.

Happy Birthday, Ellen. Hope you have a great day!

Happy b-day, Ellen! Sounds like you have some great celebrating ahead of you. 39's a wonderful age, isn't it?

Jeff P.

P.S. I spotted POE at my local Borders last night. I'd have bought a copy but the two they had were kind of mangled. Leafing through one, I noticed a typo: at the top of the pages of her story, M. Rickert's name is printed as "M. Pickert." Oops.

Thanks.
Interesting--in the UK edition (which is the only one I have) it's correct. So was it in trade paperback or mass market?

Happy Birthday! That sounds like a brilliant way to spend it.

Yes! I'm bringing a bottle of wine and since only Ellie and I will be drinking...it should be...smashing :-)

Hapy Birthday (belated - it's already tomorrow here.)

Unless we're too drunk and full of food--I'm sure we will :-) Frostbite, here I come.

Happy birthday! I've organized a little party for you at Times Square...if it's too cold, I've arranged to have it televised.

From: [identity profile] ellen-datlow.livejournal.com

Why thank you, Kris--made our own party and froze for a very few minutes out in the wilds of Marine Park, Brooklyn. :-)

I hope you had a glorious birthday, and a splendid evening at the beach!

Ah, I remember being a young child and petitioning to be allowed to stay up until my "actual birthday" - I was born at 11:35pm. I think I was around 7 or 8 the first time I was allowed.

Thank you. I did! We only spent about five minutes outside and we ended up going to some inlet instead of the beach. It was pretty cold and both Ellie and Morgan (dog) were whinging so we didn't stay long. I wanted to wait and watch the fireworks around Brooklyn --we saw a few...

A belated Happy Birthday to you, and Happy New Year! Sounds like you and yours did have a good time. Hope the fireworks you did see were spectacular.

Thank you very much.
We saw very little--but the London ones I watched yesterday (online) were amazing.
