For anyone interested in an historical document, you may want to take a look at

Summation 1987: Horror , excerpts from the very first year I co-edited YBFH.

It was a year after I judged the World Fantasy Awards.

Charles Tan made this possible by inputting it for me as this was before I used a computer, instead, typing the summary by hand.

Fantasy enthusiasts complain that the awards have been dominated by horror, horror enthusiasts have been clamoring for their own convention, and their own awards.

My, how times have changed!

Ah, Night Cry!

Nice to see that early lament for the loss of Night Cry. I was just looking at those old issues recently, going through some boxes in my basement. Read my first Paul Di Filippo story in NC.

Charles Tan input 1989 for me, too--he doesn't have a copy of #2 so unless he can get one, that won't be going up.
As soon as I have time, I'll edit and code (simply) #3.

Man, that was exactly half my life ago. Where did the time go?

Wow, what a weird and crazy moment in time -- an actual publisher publishing a horror mag, two even!

Montcalm went bankrupt earlier this year; even porn isn't selling anymore.

Also, this:

It would be extremely unfortunate if the boom we're seeing is sowing the seeds of disaster for the future of the horror novel.

Hahahahahaha!

I was going to mention that - scary accurate. Ellen has the sight!

Not something to be happy about in this case. You know....it's a gift--or a curse ;-)
