Hi Ellen - what super super news!!

Baby, the Nebulas are scheduled for 2009 in Los Angeles and I was made aware approx. 48 hours ago of the status of the planning, etc.

This book will be officially "there," right? I am currently trying to call the LA Times Festival of Books to see what their 09 schedule is. It is obviously impacted by the recent layoffs at the Times (Tribune laid off @ least 400 people).

I am not "in charge" of the Nebs - LASFS was selected to do this. However, I may well be like . . . er . . .

From your side, Ellen, this particular book launch and event should be very prominent. I have hope that at least 10% of the ideas floating around can come to pass, which will mean at least some TV coverage and other "new media" coverage. It would be great to be able to have it coordinated with the Festival of Books if possible (I am unsure whether the Neb date is flexible - it certainly was in 2001 when held in conjunction).

Leta me know your thoughts!!

Downtown LA
Hollywood
Westside (Beverly Hills) - 2001 event was at Beverly Hilton
Long Beach (Queen Mary - another past event)

Hi Amy,
I believe the 2008 title came out in April so there should be copies of the 2009 edition out for next year's Nebula Award weekend.

I think it's a bit premature to be planning anything around ME--#1 I have no idea when the Nebula awards are or whether I'll be attending. I've already committed to attending the Stokers in LA next year and don't know if I'll have time or money to attend two events within a month or two of each other on the opposite coast from where I live. Obviously, if I CAN attend I will. But I think it's more important to see what authors in the book will be there and that will certainly depend on nominations, etc.

As for where it takes place in the LA area, as long as it's not Anaheim, anyplace is fine with me :-)
