Which means you're as good as a money shot by famous monsters in a zombie survival guide. ;-)

Seriously, though, congrats. Good anthology. Really enjoying it.

Thanks zzinia and snurri--so does this mean my publisher can say INFERNO was a # 1 bestseller? (smirk)

Technically yes, there are authors who do such things. I remember when WALK IN SHADOWS was #1 on the Shocklines bestseller list for a couple of weeks, I was tempted to call it a bestseller, but I realized that the word is meaningless unless it comes from a major book tracking source like PW, The New York Times Book Review, etc.

There's an admittedly apocryphal story that Jeffrey Archer once searched much of Greater London trying to find a bookshop where his latest novel was No 1 on their hardcover bestseller list, simply so he could have that distinction printed on the cover of the paperback.

The reason it took so long, reportedly, is that a new Terry Pratchett hardcover had come out in the same week, and was #1 in all of the other stores.

Congratulations on getting first place - and if it helps, YBF&H frequently stays in the Top 10 for months after its release, at [livejournal.com profile] planetfantastic.

Ellen--
The hardcover fiction list is satisfying for a number of reasons--Inferno being #1, both as a reason and on the list--very nice--but I'm also very pleased to see that the list is dominated by anthologies and collections. At least readers dedicated to the genre--those who would shop at DD--are not ignoring short form fiction, where so much of the best horror originates.

I am perplexed, though, by "The Zombie Survival Guide" making the nonfiction list. Did I miss something? Has space radiation finally left Californians dead and "all messed up"?

right! of course! and as we all know, californains have long been addled by space radiation. no wonder a californian president developed our mighty star wars defense system... mondo zombie madness! in the white house!!!

Oh, hooray! Hooray! I'm so happy for you!

(P.S. Am still reading Inferno, but never fear, there WILL be writing about it. Also a link. :)
