I'm in Maine where it's very cold and the snow that fell before I arrived is beautiful. I'll be posting lots of boring (to everyone but me) snow photos when I get home. It's nice and cozy here in the dining room where I've finally gotten my laptop to pick up the wifi in the house. I'm visiting Liz Hand and her family.

Got in 1 1/2 hours late yesterday afternoon so by the time John (Clute) and I got back here it was dark. We had dinner, I read a little bit and went to sleep really early for me--9:30, but I was really exhausted because I'd only gotten about 6 hours sleep the night before. Had a pretty lazy day today. Brought a bunch of zombie and other anthos concerned with dead things with me, some mss, some New York and New Yorker mags, and The Terror.

Hit a consignment shop that I regularly visit while here and Liz bought some nice stuff. I did buy an item (non-clothing) that I'll either keep or give as a gift.

It's a perfect time of year to be here in Maine -- snow, cool temps (but not too cold), and no crowds! Enjoy!

Well, it's a little colder than cool but I've got my fur coat, so I'm happy enough. And today we're going to the chicken barn--chock full of books and collectibles.

Oooo, I just looked that place up, and I have *got* to plan a visit. (Of course, it's 100+ miles away from where I am, but it sounds like it would be worth the trip.)

Welcome to Maine (though I doubt this is your first visit)! And yes, it IS cold, and there's snow, both of which we haven't seen in December for quite some time.

Let us know what you think of the chicken barn. I've never gone, and am wondering if it's worth a trip.

Please say hi to Liz for me. I met her this summer when she did a reading at Gulf of Maine books. I'm the guy who draws the lobster cartoons.

Stay warm, and have fun!

Jeff P.

Hi Jeff,
Liz says hi back. The chicken barn is not bad --I go more for the collectibles than the books. John Clute says it IS worth it once.
