After a gruelling trip home from Maine: the flight was delayed 2 1/2 hours because of air traffic control conditions at Newark Airport (everything west was backed up due to weather)... I finally arrived through my door at 1am. I should have been in the door by 10:30. Portland airport is small and the one guy at the counter was really sweet--he brought us cold soda from the plane while we were in the waiting area. But still, I just wanted to be HOME! Just dealing with my new mail (600+ messages? How the hell did that happen)and deleting most of it got me trundling to bed at 2:30 am.
But this morning I figured the way to get around the inevitable crash of outlook when downloading all the mail I read on the web while traveling that wasn't deleted. I just see what mails download before it crashes then go to my webmail and delete that mail from the server. Next time I open outlook those old messages no longer clog the system. So with one crash (in the past it's crashed 10-12 times, which meant I had to delete 10-12 copies of each email) everything subsequently went fine, except for Dinah nagging and Bella rolling on my computer table while I currently) hold the keyboard and pet her tummy and head intermittently.
I still have to unpack and go through all the mail that came over the past week plus input the YBFH notes I took while away and go over some revisions to mss that came in while I was away.
One nice thing (other than that its balmy outside --if rainy) is a new review of The Del Rey Book of Science Fiction and Fantasy on the Baltimore Science Fiction Society website.
Also, I got a batch of my Poe books (yay). Plus took some photos of the big rabbit on the way to the airport yesterday.
