Not much happening other than visiting with friends in Maine (not snowy as it was last year when I was here). I've accomplished a few things like reading through some printouts and reading Liz's story but certainly not as much as I hope to--I brought a ton of things to read which is why my luggage is always heavy going and lighter leaving). Hanging out with Liz and/or John intermittently and off to Rockland today for antique malling while John buys a lamp. It informed him that he'd better not rush me ;-)....
It's very relaxing here (despite reading all the dire publishing news). I overslept this morning as my alarm didn't go off but I guess I needed the sleep. Yesterday morning I woke with vertigo, which sloughed off by the end of the day and I'm fine now. Liz thinks it might have had to do with the flight--I thought that maybe I was low on blood sugar--as I DO have low blood pressure. I have no idea. No other and no further symptoms.
Off to roam.
Ah...something to add. Publicity is starting to come together for my Poe anthology, officially to be released by Solaris January 9th, I believe. Contributors have been receiving their UK copies (mm) although I haven't--hopefully by the time I get back from Maine, they'll magically have appeared.
But there will be a big event at the South Street Seaport Museum NYRFS series January 6th--with contributors Delia Sherman, Barbara Roden, Gregory Frost, and John Langan reading bits of their stories, a brief discussion of Poe and his life by Professors Frost and Veronica Schanoes, a reading of A Cask of Amontillado (I think), a brief panel discussion of the anthology, and book selling/signing of said book. More later.
Also will be having an event in London via the British Fantasy Society January 31st beginning at 2pm with Pat Cadigan, Kim Newman, Nicholas Royle, and myself. Books to be sold and signed there as well as some reading.
We're working on putting together two events in Philadelphia in February--with Laird Barron, Gregory Frost, John Langan, and myself participated--but it's not sure. We hope to do something at the Poe Society in Philly plus at a book store.
There is a Poe panel at ICFA in March.
Being that 2009 is the Poe Bicentennial, there should be a big publicity push for Poey things in general. Solaris and I hope to take advantage of this.
