I'm the webmaster for the FriendsOfEd.org site, and I'm not sure why PayPal would not allow you to process a donation. The link on the page goes directly to a PayPal processing page. The page has processed numerous donations already today, so I know it's working.
However, if you want to send a PayPal payment directly to the e-mail address, just log in to PayPal and send your donation to "donate@friendsofed.org".
I'll add that to the site, as well.
