I received my author's copies yesterday, but didn't say anything because pub date is tomorrow (August 1st) and the book wasn't on the BN.COM website yet. I just checked and now it is:
A Whisper of Blood

The book, which contains both Blood is Not Enough and A Whisper of Blood looks fantastic! In addition to the gorgeous wraparound cover, the front of which I've posted here earlier, the book has black endpapers and decent paper quality...better than some of my other anthologies. It's $9.98 for 588 pages of fiction. It's under the Fall River imprint of B&N and presumably is available in the bargain areas of the store.

I'll be receiving contributor copies soon but to anyone in the book reading this, it'll take awhile to send out the 36 or so copies. A few I'm grabbing from my own batch to hand carry to Denvention to La Cadigan (who has two stories--one from each volume) and Edward Bryant.

Yay!

Any word if it can be ordered outside of BN.Com for international readers?

From my editor:

"And, yes, the book will be available through bn.com, so anyone with access to the internet and a mailbox should be able to buy it."

Thanks. I'm really happy that it's back in print and hope it sells in this edition for a looong time.

Considering that Blood is Not Enough is one of my favoritest anthologies, I have no idea where my original hardcover is and I was too big a moron to buy the one you offered for sale at that Worldcon Kaffeeklatch a couple years ago, I am going to beat feet to my local B&N and buy a couple copies!

Did you make me carry a book home again? tsk tsk... I notice that there's an online discount of a few bucks (although I guess it would be made up in shipping costs).

I'm afraid I did. My brain completely short-circuited when you said the copies you had were for sale, and I had no cash on me at that moment. Clearly, I am a doofus.

There's actually a B&N directly across the street from me and their buyer is clearly a genre fan. Their discount books section has been the bane of our shelves here. Especially since I've got a penchant for oversized anatomy books.

I'll be checking in on them until I can get your book. :)

Could I repost the relevant parts of this to http://community.livejournal.com/iafalordruthven ?

Or we'd be delighted if you'd join us and post any news of new vampire fiction as it happens.

Please say hello to Pat for me: I wish that I could get out there just to see the both of you, but unfortunately I'm heading in the opposite direction that weekend.

I might have to hobble over there on my lunch break. Haven't yet tried to walk a whole block w/ the splint & the cane, so maybe it's time. & it's SUCH good motivation!

hmmm...

Just called the local store. They do NOT have any copies yet, & the computer is showing it as OOP, though w/ a release date of 8/11. The young man w/ whom I spoke was a little confused how to proceed, but he's going to try to order a copy anyway & mentioned that the books ARE listed as being in the warehouse, so I should have one before too long. But not today, alas *pout*

Re: hmmm...

Oops. Yes. The release date IS the 11th; the book is in the warehouse not stores...maybe what's online is a "preorder option." Sorry for the confusion.
