Yay! I've been in Stallion Springs since Saturday evening and could not get connected via the broadband network at Mikey's house. I was using her computer until just now after we discussed the situation with an at&t person by phone. I wanted to try wireless instead if it was possible.
Mikey had been told that she could not get wifi here in SS-Jim said she could that AT&T was wrong. In any case, I was told where the passkey is on the modem for a wireless connection entered it and STILL could not get online. The person on the phone at that point thought it was a problem with my machine (I knew it was not)and asked if I wanted to be connected to a different dept that you have to pay for. I said NO.
So...because the damned broadband and dial up kept coming up on the screen I realized that might be the problem and after about ten minutes of trying different things, figured out how to delete the entire broadband connection I'd set up, and once I did (and possibly with more fiddling--I have no idea), voila! my home page came up. Whoopieeee!
Lazing about for the past couple of days, just reading all my New Yorkers and some printouts for YBFH that I'd brought with me. Watched Desperate Housewives last night -eh. Won't watch again. Saw Pushing Daisies for the first time Saturday (recorded), at the Blaylocks before I left for the signing (which went very well)and loved it. I will most definitely watch season one on DVD.
Today, Richard (Mikey's husband) and I drove to Tehachapi for some errands and then went to the Ostrich ranch which has a gift shop--eggs. Ostrich and emu (the latter dark blue). I already was given a gift of an ostrich egg several years ago by a friend but I'd never seen the dark blue emu eggs before so bought one). Also, a rubber Mikey Mouse head (largish) for $2 (there's an antique store on the ranch). We fed the four older ostriches, photos later. They were only a year old but prettttty big. The 6 month ones are not very small but the 1-3 month ones are really cute. If only they didn't grow.
