I'm sitting in my room at 11:05 pm CT with the wind absolutely howling outside. Mary Robinette Kowal, my roomie for the night is writing a story. We're both occasionally breaking out into amazed giggles at the incredible sound.

I've had a great time at the convention, some great meals and saw a lot of friends. Unfortunately, I ran into several people I had no idea were attending and didn't have time to hang out with them.

I won an original oil by Terri Windling at the Tiptree Auction last night. Today Ysabeau Wilce and I (my roomie till today) went to an antique mall. And I had a steak dinner in the hotel restaurant with Jeremy Lassen (Nightshade) tonight--I wanted one more steak before returning to NYC where I can't afford steak in restaurants.

I've got my cheese curds and a lovely very hard bread I got at the market yesterday--I guess I'll chomp them on the plane home tomorrow.

Glad to be returning home. Back tomorrow night.

I bought two items: a Baby book with a separate photo of said baby from 1915. I almost didn't get it because the tag fell off as I carried it around the antique mall and so I had to go and try to remember the maze I walked through...I couldn't remember which booth I'd found the little book in so unless I found the tag I wouldn't have been able to buy it. I couldn't even remember the exact price. I thought it was $6 but why should they believe me. But...miracle of miracles, I found it and it was only $4...
Also, a small antique hair curler, again, very cheap. Small and portable stuff, which is all I can allow myself to buy (unless it's something also useful).

There were at least two other antique malls in town but we didn't have time so hadn't even checked to see if they were open today.

I love sorting through old photograph albums. I collect 78 rpm records, and I have several personal album books with songs inscribed in faded handwriting.

Haven't been antiquing lately, though, due to the usual refrain of "lack of time, money and space in the house!"

Well, ok, ok, maybe only *two* writers, but I'm glad some of the authors in the anthology are enjoying the review. :)

Also, now that you've mentioned cheese curds, I am reminded of the four (FOUR!) types of cheese sitting in my fridge right now. I might have to go snack. (I should never be let loose in a grocery store around cheese, you know. It's hazardous to my wallet. Speaking of which, I'm still trying to find my recipe card for the Brie dish - it must be in one of my 12 cookbooks!)

...is really wonderful, and squeaky. I remember the first time I ever had cheese curd, and it was a pretty great memory to associate with the experience so I doubt I will ever forget it.
