Home from Florida

Got back last night from 11 days in Florida, visiting my parents (dad's home and has a visiting nurse coming in four times a week plus will start having physical therapy to hopefully help with his balance and strengthen his legs.

Photos from ICFA will be posted but in the meantime I've posted a few family shots and landscapes and clouds (yup I love those Florida clouds).

More bad news from publishing. My wonderful editor at M Press, Rob Simpson, has been laid off. I have no idea what this means for Lovecraft Unbound, which is in production and due for pub in October.

Running out to do errands. More later.

Sympathies on being orphaned.

I'm glad your dad is home and recovering. Being in the hospital sucks.

Sorry to hear about your editor though, I'll keep my fingers crossed for Lovecraft Unbound.

Thanks...Unfortunately, I'm way too used to it. :-( I just hope that M Press will still publish the book on schedule and that whoever handles it is competent and likes the book.

Thanks. Off to my surgeon in 45 minutes for a look at my booboo :-).

Glad to see that it is downgraded to a boo-boo!

Well that's what it looks like to ME--we'll see what he thinks :-)

Just got back and something happened that he said might --the flesh healed quicker than the skin covering it. When he originally said this might happen I thought it would be a major production to fix but nah...he just took this long wooden stick with some kind of chemical on it that I think he said is silver nitrate (I'll look it up after I post) and rubbed down the flesh until the gray substance covered it. No pain. I'll have to do it again in a couple of days, once the gray stuff wears off... and I'll see him next Monday.

Yeah. He's a great guy.

Here it is:
A poisonous colorless crystalline compound, AgNO3, that becomes grayish black when exposed to light in the presence of organic matter and is used in manufacturing photographic film, silvering mirrors, dyeing hair, plating silver, and in medicine as a cautery and antiseptic.

Ick, so many publishing layoffs and restructurings.

Best of luck to your dad with his PT and everything!
