Ordinarily, I wouldn't chime in like that, since I don't know you at all, but I actually went "Wow, that's pretty cool dress" when I saw the announcements the other day. Finding out you got it at Ray's Ragtime a few minutes ago when I looked at your LJ just made that even better. (I used to do graphics for a bunch of Portland vintage stores, back when I was a kid.)
Yeah, I miss it too, living in the exact opposite part of the US, these days.
"Since I'm unlikely to ever get to do the Oscars, this was my chance at the red carpet."
Well, you took full advantage of the occasion. BTW, I've read a few of your stories, too, lest you think the "congrats" was entirely for sartorial sense.
Ellen, it was really nice to be able to meet you in person (strolling with the stars indeed! lol) and speak a little during WorldCon -- and I completely agree, the corridors were huge, everything (and some attendees) spaced out.
Mary, Congrats!! By the time I was going to post on your blog there were 90 comments so I decided to post here instead. I was excited when you received the award and also really believe in short fiction. Thanks for making the con fun and memorable! :-)
Alvaro, yes--thanks for introducing yourself. I know I was spaced out at times ;-) There are probably people who thought I was being rude but basically I felt I was always on the run trying to get from one event to another.
