Luke Jerram glass sculptures of disease

These transparent glass sculptures of pathogenic viruses were created to contemplate the global impact of each disease and to consider how the doctoring of scientific imagery affects our visualisation of phenomena. This according to Luke Jerram, the artist (who is, by the way, colorblind), is how the viruses actually look, although they're usually colorized when depicted.

There's an example on display at the Wellcome Collection in London and he has a solo show at the Smithfield Gallery, London, opening September 22nd.
