That's terrible. My cats for years got rabies shots and anti leuk shots but since I live on the 3rd floor my vet doesn't think it's necessary. I never open the window wide enough so that they could get out.
She was one of about 70 Maine Coons found running wild in this one house. The owner, an older woman, was found dead (probably for a while) and the cats were matted and starving. My parents and sister and brother in law were among the flood of volunteers who helped get the cats clean, groomed, fed and put up for adoption. I think most of them got adopted quickly.
