INFERNO chosen as one of best of the year by Publishers Weekly

I'm especially pleased because it's one of only seven picks in science fiction and fantasy:

Inferno
Edited by Ellen Datlow (Tor)
Datlow offers a state-of-the-art anthology of 20 new stories by some of horror fiction's best and brightest.

Congratulations!

And while I'm at it, congratulations Ms World Fantasy Award winner for best anthology!

You rule.

[identity profile] ellen-datlow.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!!! I try to rule gently but with a firm hand :-)

I'm just going to be congratulating you all day, aren't I? That's really neat!

[identity profile] ellen-datlow.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It IS a couple of good days --I'll try not to have any more good news for the next few days!

[identity profile] foresthouse.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
No no, I don't begrudge anyone the good news! Especially if it's well-deserved good news. Bring it on! :)

[identity profile] ellen-datlow.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I know. When I have some time, I'll see if I can blog a bit more about the weekend. I'll probably put up photos over the next few days.

[identity profile] foresthouse.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Photos are often my favorite part. :)

[identity profile] foresthouse.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
And in retrospect, your cat icon looks like it's eyeing my chinchilla icon. Oh no!

[identity profile] ellen-datlow.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true-- Your chinchilla better watch out (although yours looks as large as Bella) .

[identity profile] foresthouse.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
She's fairly small IRL (as seen here) but she's a VERY fast runner. Heh. Picture one of those cartoons where the character runs so fast she leaves her little tail behind, and that's my Rogue.

Your cat looks a lot like my sister's cat, who is adorable.

[identity profile] ellen-datlow.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I suspect Bella would have no idea what to do with such a creature but she's have fun figuring it out ;-)

[identity profile] foresthouse.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
We didn't let my sister's cat (Snickers) and Rogue meet when they were in the same house, because Rogue probably would have been scared to death, but whenever I'd play with Rogue in a room with the door shut, I'd come out after and Snickers would be hunkered down in front of the door in pre-pounce mode. Hee!

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations!

[identity profile] ellen-datlow.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. Is that Giles from BUFFY in your photo? (boy do I adore him)

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It is! I love it when those stiff-upper-lip Brits cut loose. *g*

[identity profile] ellen-datlow.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, some of them :-) Ahem, I've had experiences with some you wouldn't want to cut loose!

[identity profile] ellen-datlow.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL--actually it was not he to whom I was referring...but now that you mention it...

[identity profile] desperance.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you know Giles-from-Buffy has shopped in Liz Williams' shop? Squee!

[identity profile] ellen-datlow.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Recently? If so, I'll be right there!

I saw that early this morning in my boss's issue of PW, and I had to practically break my fingers to keep from blogging about it first. Congrats!

[identity profile] ellen-datlow.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi Livia,
My agent emailed me over the weekend but I didn't know details till I saw PW today.
