Darkness: Two Decades of Modern Horror

Here is the TOC and the tentative jacket --please note that the names on the front of the jacket are not final. There will be more/others. Not sure about the back cover, but we may put all the names there. I'm also assuming the snake will show up more than it does here. The book will be out from Tachyon February 2010.

It shows up more in the catalog. The blues are also different tones in the catalog. I'm sure there will be tweaks to the art and type.

It came off a Mac and wasn't gamma-corrected for display on other machines. Matt's background at Shocklines has the same problem.

Nice selection of stories, BTW.

You can figure that out just from looking at it? Nice work!
Glad you like the selection.

It's a pretty common issue, if not as much as it was in the early days of the Web. The problem is that while modern monitors run at 2.2 gamma, including Apple monitors, the Mac UI is still built for 1.8 like back in the day, so if you run your Mac at the settings everybody else is using, the UI looks too dark.

Anyway, this is probably more like what you wanted to show, although since it was already compressed, changing the bright levels around highlights the artifacts. I'm sure the publisher has web graphics ready or can provide them at the proper gamma - any Mac-based web designer knows they have to compensate for all the other machines in the world.

I think I can use that and move it up to the post...I'm going to try.

Nope and now I totally screwed up the post and can't get the cover image back in there at all. (sigh)

Sorry, I didn't mean to make you blow up your post.

After much angst.
And the production person at Tachyon says, yes, that is what it should look like (at least more so than the original post).

Well, yay for that.
