leg news

Yes. To you it might be boring, but hey, it's my life, and until it completely heals, it's a daily part of that life (I truly won't be insulted if you skip my posts on it).

To update everyone still reading, I've been taking off the big Band-Aid every morning before showering (the water does not do any harm, and it doesn't even sting --although, of course, I'm careful not to wash the area). Then I dry off around the wound, put some of the medicated gel into it and put on a new Band-Aid.

I'd been doing this almost a week, beginning last Tuesday morning and for the first 5 days saw no difference in the size of the wound. But today I did--it definitely looked smaller to me. Just got back from the surgeon and indeed, it is smaller. New photo with measuring tool will be posted on flickr shortly (only for those who choose to see the set). He's very pleased. Needless to say, so am I. I'll see him again next Monday, leave for Florida the 11th and we both hope that it just might be closed up by the time I return to see him the 23rd.

Are you still taking oral antibiotics?

Glad to hear you're healing up. Having broken my leg back in 2007 I can sympathize. I know it's not the same thing but an ailing pin of any sort just plain sucks.

You shower every morning? Are you sure you're a science fiction editor?

Glad to hear it's healing better.

And it's not boring but then again, I'm a sadist (and you're a horror editor after all... who knows what microscopic life your wounds give birth to).

Good to hear! :)

That's excellent news. I hope the healing process continues at a good pace.

So, I'm guessing your new byline will be Ellen "Legs" Datlow.

I hope this heals up as quickly as possible. I read Pat's posts on your London trip with a great deal of sympathy and some horror - what a rotten thing to happen abroad. Also hospitals here can be great....or not.

Glad to hear it's healing up so quickly! (And jealous: the cavity in my own leg took a lot longer than this . . .)

Glad you are getting better. Here's hoping the wound begins to shrink quickly and then heals completely.

Eek, what happened to your leg?? I've been off LJ for a while, and clearly missed something. I looked through your entries, but couldn't spot the initial wounding. What happened??
