I'll be out there, as soon as I can fit pontoons on my bicycle.

As I was scanning my f-list page, I thought your post said "Pope lunch in London," and I was confused for a second. *g*

Well you know, we could invite him too but I doubt he'd have a very good time :-)

Can't do 31st, but will be in London on 28th. Are you arrived by then?

I get in the 24th, late. Maybe Pat and I can meet up with you that day?

I hope so. I shall email.

Yes, me and Pat--and let's organize.

Give my love to any Brits you think would like it, and a big smooch to Pat whether she'd like it or not.

We're planning on getting together.

Apro- er, let's not finish that pun.

Anyway, the CBC Radio show "As It Happens" had an item on Poe impressionist (and TV celebrity) John Astin discussing both his work and Poe's in tonight's show. (Link to transcript, with access to an mp3 version of the broadcast (http://www.cbc.ca/radioshows/AS_IT_HAPPENS/20090122.shtml)) Also, in their stinger they like to make a little joke relating to the show's content... so for tonight's show:

And...it's opened to "Raven" reviews. It's the two-hundredth anniversary of Edgar Allan's birthday -- and in a stage show, a former sitcom star is looking Poe-faced.

As It Happens, the Thursday edition. Radio that remembers a writer who was apparently conspicuous by his absinthe.

I've told my friend Ruth (a university librarian who lives in London) to make it if she can. Hope it goes well!

check the train lines before relying on transportation. The Jubilee line is apparantly down this weekend. She has no idea what will be going on next weekend, but there have been a lot of line stoppages lately.

Thanks. I'll be with locals so they'll keep me apprised. I don't think I take the Jubilee much, though.
