Dexter and Wool 100%

I finished watching the second season of Dexter this weekend and especially enjoyed the last episode. Nicely done. Looking forward to the third season being released on DVD.

And this evening I also watched a Japanese partly animated film called Wool 100%. I remember cutting out the review in the NY Times and waiting/hoping it would be available through netflix because it sounded weird and interesting. It is that, although I admit to almost dozing off about halfway through. It's about two elderly, anti-social sisters living in a ramshackle mansion "decorated" and weighed down (on the outside) with the products of their daily scavenging. Their placid existence is disturbed by the entrance of a strange young girl into their lives. Not all that much dialog but what there is hints at past sadness and possible tragedy. Although I'm very glad I saw it, I'm not willing to watch it again to suss out more meaning (and there is a LOT more in there). Definitely worth a look.

I read your subject line and thought you had started knitting! :)

Not I! Have you seen the movie though? It's all about knitting!

No. I will have to get Paul to get it through Netflix.

It's definitely a weird one.

Huh! It sounds like Wool is a Japanese version of the Collyer brothers: http://www.google.com/search?q=collyer+brothers&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Or Grey Gardens with Edie and "Little "Edit" Beale.

We just finished watching Dexter season 2 last weekend and agree. I thought this season was more entertaining and more tightly plotted than season 1. Probably because Dexter had more personally at stake. What a great show, though. :)

I agree.

I love how they ramped up the drama in Dexter Season 2. Dropped him in it right from the first episode. 'How the hell is he gonna get out of THIS?!' I remember thinking.

Just started Season 3. Jimmy Smits = awesome...

I've heard JS is :-)

I just love Dexter. Whoever would have thought we'd be rooting for a serial killer? Sending him to N.A. was brilliant, and Lila was deliciously wicked. I can't wait to see season 3, either!
