Photos of the New York Waterfalls cruise/ movie night

These are from Monday the 8th. Unfortunately, the light was mostly gone by the time the cruise actually began, but I'm very happy with my photos of the ship lines (whatever they're called):
New York Waterfalls and the waterfront

And tonight I watched more Deadwood (three hours worth, yum!) and Hard Candy which is a terrific little psychological thriller with Ellen Page, pre-June (which I haven't yet seen). There a really nice "little red riding hood" reference in Hard Candy --good show!

Thanks. I became very annoyed and frustrated not being able to take good photos in the dark with the stupid digital. I need a digital SLR. When I win lotto!

It really makes a difference. There are some very solid DSLRs now that don't require a mortgage. At least until you want really good lenses.

If I do ever buy one I want a Nikon that'll put me back about $600--I don't know if I'll ever have that kind of money to spend again.

You might check Calumet photo and see what they charge for renting cameras. For a single day out taking pictures, it could possibly be worth while... Though poking various NYC sites that do gear rental suggests it's >$100/day for body + lens, and I wouldn't consider that worthwhile unless I could actually make money with it.

The deal I currently have with myself is that I can get a fancy-nice camera if I can sell enough photographs to pay for said fancy-nice camera.

It hasn't been enough of an inducement, so far.

Nah. I WANT one. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to try to sell photos. However, I could certainly start saving money from the photos Locus occasionally takes...it'll only take a few years :-)

Yeah... I torture myself by reading a bunch of photo-geek blogs and tech sites. My taste in cameras vastly outweighs my budget for them (which is, at the moment, $0).

My chipped up crystal ball suggests that in a few years time, the HD video/DSLR convergence party will be raging. That should nicely muddy the waters.
