Carnivale was originally supposed to be 5 or 6 seasons (it was highly plotted and planned up to the end, from what I've been told), but was so costly to make, HBO pulled the plug. So, yeah, the very last episode will leave many things unresolved, and raise a huge number of questions - but it's worth watching up to the end.
